Mountain Landscapers wants this portal usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or magnification. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
What is built in
- Text and background colors chosen to meet AA contrast, including the customer estimate page.
- Every control reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Semantic headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate by structure.
- Form fields with real labels, and errors described in text rather than by color alone.
- Layouts that work down to 320px wide and reflow when text is enlarged — the estimate page is built mobile-first, since most customers open it on a phone.
- Status shown in words, not by color alone. Where a color dot appears, the same information is available as text to those permitted to see it.
Known limitations
The estimating assistant is a conversational interface. We have kept it to plain text and standard form controls for that reason, but a long exchange can be tiring to review with a screen reader. If that is a barrier for you, any estimate can be built manually instead — tell us and we will.
Signing an estimate. Accepting an estimate asks you to sign with a finger, a stylus or a mouse in a signature box. Drawing is not something everyone can do, and there is no keyboard or screen-reader equivalent for it. You do not have to use it. Call or email us and we will take your acceptance directly and record it for you — it is exactly as binding, and it will not cost you anything or delay the work. We would rather hear from you than have you fight with a box you cannot use.
The site drawing that may accompany an estimate is a picture of the plan. It carries a text description, and the measurements it produces are also written out in the estimate itself, but the drawing is not navigable on its own. Ask us and we will walk you through the plan.
Photographing a receipt. Logging a material purchase normally starts with a photograph, which needs a camera and enough sight to frame it. You do not have to use it. The vendor, amount and job can be typed in directly instead, and the receipt is recorded exactly the same way.
